David grew up in suburban Philadelphia. After getting an engineering physics degree and an MBA, he worked in technical market research, technical financial analysis, investment sales and finished his career working 10 years each at Interstate Securities and First Union National Bank. Before retiring from First Union in 2000, he managed a small data analysis department working for bond traders and on corporate acquisitions.

David and his wife Judy have lived in Matthews, NC, for 29 years, have two children, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons. They are charter members of South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church, formed in 1991. Actionnel Fleurisma, a founder of OFCB Ministries and also CEO and Head Pastor, is also a charter member of SMPC. Both David & Judy have been active in missions, especially with OFCB. David and Judy have visited Bayonnais many times.

Concerning his involvement with OFCB, David says, "My relationship with the people of OFCB and of Bayonnais has many aspects, but the main one is our relationship of equals under God. I am involved with learning about and promoting their general and specific plans for the future (especially with churches, but also with individuals), trip coordination, financial affairs, sponsoring of college students and many other things. Working with this clearly God-filled group of Haitian men and women and seeing their planning and hard work generate wonderful results has been truly inspiring."
