Haiti Update
Following the earthquake in January, the district encompassing Bayonnais was overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands of refugees from Port au Prince. Many of the displaced children have been taken in by our partners at OFCB ministries and are now in school. Your generous support has helped our partners to be The Hands of Christ to those with even less. Supporting organizations and churches raised more than $160,000 for immediate relief and sent 8 used school buses filled with supplies. Recently members of Myers Park United Methodist Church sponsored 100 children in Bayonnais. What a blessing for these children to know that their education is secure and that someone cares and is praying for them! Pray for the people of Haiti, and pray that we will know how best to bring God’s love to our brothers and sisters and the children of Bayonnais.

The internet arrives in Gbarnga!

At 5:41 PM on 9/22, board member Chris Cecil connected to the satellite and brought the world to a city of 50,000, where the only connection to the outside world is a battery powered radio. On Saturday morning, more than 60 people waited outside for the grand opening of the internet cafe', a business enterprise open  to the community and generating income. They didn't just wait...they were singing hymns, praying, and praising God! What an extraordinary opportunity for those of us who were there to witness God's love through the generosity of World of God's donors and sponsors.

In September we carried with us letters from sponsors. Your words of love and encouragement mean so much to the sonsored children. In the countryside there are limited schools and if available they will end at 6th grade. Many students at Tubman Gray have come to Gbarnga to live with relatives or to rent a small room with a family. They live with the constant anxiety of finding enough money for tuition and uniforms. It is a great comfort for your child to know that their education is assured.
